Hi Shirley i like this its very nicely painted and a lovely composition and the white paper gives it a lovely fresh feel to it . Well done Shirley

Lovely Shirley, those figs look just ready for eating, did you?

Ah, that 'little class' again....and what a result! How I wish I lived nearby!

Thank you Dennis, Gudrun, Christine and Louise, that is very kind. We did have a nice afternoon. There is nothing quite like paint. And yes, I did eat the figs, Christine :-) By the way, was it you who mentioned the stained glass artist of the little window in Shoreham Church?? I went to look at it today, and it is lovely.

No, it wasn't me Shirley but I am intrigued and will have to go and see it for myself now!

This has a wonderful Matisse-like stillness and monumentality. Adding your paintbox to the painting was a brilliant idea!

Thank you, Kim. Matisse is a special favourite painter of mine I love his work. Thank you very much for the kind comparison. Another favourite painter of mine is John Yardley, whose impressionistic water colours and gouaches I think are outstanding.

Strong drawing and strong colours - it's a lovely semi abstract feel to it, Shirley

It's all been said before Shirley ! I will just add that I like the addition of your paintbox too!

A lovely composition Shirley - I love the loose quality and the lively colours.

Thank you very much, Pat and Sarah.

A fantastic still life Shirley! I love everything in it!!

Thank you, Satu! That sounds good! I enjoyed painting it!

Lovely still life Shirley. I love the loose style and it is fresh and bold.

Inspired work - just super.

Thank you, Thea! That is very kind. Tomorrow is another little class, so I must think of a nice subject for us.

Painted this afternoon in my little class. We set ourselves the task of using very strong colour in places whilst reserving areas of clean white paper to create strong contrast.
