Beautiful painting Shirley, lovely sunflowers, very nice colours and composition

Thank you Petra, that's very kind. I've had a lovely day painting!

This is so lovely Shirley, I can visualise the lovely relaxing morning in Rosie's conservatory - wish I'd been there!

Hi Christine, It was lovely! Sun pouring in and we also had lovely music playing. We paint together every Friday, or visit exhibitions. I recommend the Max Gill exhibition at the Art College, Grand Parade (stunning), and also the Charlston Farmhouse one at the Brighton museum. Thank you very much for your kind remarks.

I love Sunflowers and this is a great example - I wish I'd been there with you too!

Lovely colourful and loose painting. The glass vase is particularly well done.

Hi Shirley, I went to see the Charlston exhibition at the Brighton museum a couple of weeks ago, it's great isn't it. I'm hoping to visit Charleston itself in the near future. I can recommend the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibition at The Pallant Gallery in Chichester. Happy painting!

A lovely lively cheerful painting. Well done.

Wonderful sunflowers Shirley, beautifully painted

This is spot on! Just so much to look at. Lovely. :)

Thank you so much for the positive comments – it's really appreciated, thank you. In case the technique is of interest, in this picture I wetted the paper first, and then introduced the primaries I was using in a fairly random way, covering the whole area. Let this dry, and then worked on top of it. I find this method creates a feeling of depth and atmosphere for me, and allows all sorts of nice things to unfold with the painting. It's not difficult, and it makes interesting colour mixtures appear.

What a great gallery !
