At least the end result turned out well Satu - in fact very well.

I like this very much Satu, the end was certainly worth the means! I have some gesso coated wooden panels that I use for my collages, they are not as big as yours but Jackson's Art do them in various sizes. An easier option perhaps but maybe not obtainable from where you are.

No stopping you Satu ! I love the way one discovers the tree and bird hidden amongst all the colourful marks . Another beauty. Have you ever painted on drift wood ? Very fashionable here in France.....

Lovely, abstract, interesting looking for the birdies! ;-))

wow, this looks like it was great fun, is it the throw paint at the board method? totally awesome :-)

This immediately caught my eye for the strong design, textures and lovely colour combinations. All that angst and trouble was not in vain as it has produced a super painting.

I agree with the above comments, Satu. This is beautiful, worth the effort.

Thea has said it all. Well done.

I'd never choose to paint on woodchip - maybe if there were no alternative.... They're all right, you've produced a remarkable painting, lively and colourful; but it must have been sheer murder to do, because, as you've discovered, this surface has an inexhaustible thirst. MDF next time! Useful experience, though, in painting on a textured ground.

It's worth the trouble, Satu! That's one very beautifully textured and vibrant piece! And I love that very sunny palette. Superb!

I agree with all that's been said Satu, it's an excellent result for the trouble of it!

Thank you my friends for all your lovely comments! They mean a lot to me. Christine, I have never tried Jackson's board but might give them a go. Rebecca, this was painted with a palette knife, my favorite at the moment. I have found some MDF now! It has got a lovely, smooth surface!!!

Satu, thank you for your kind comments about my sketch. I have had a browse through your galleries and I am impressed. I like how you explore. I can also just imagine how wonderful it is to be in a summerhouse in Finland for two months in the summer!

This is my first and last attempt to paint on rough woodchip board. I was desperate to find MDF and at the end bought six panels of this woodchip thing. Sawdust was flying everywhere when the young man was cutting them out of an enormous piece. Edges were really rough but I thought that sanding them down will do the trick. Nightmare! The surface ate so much paint and it was much too textured but I did finish what I had started and here is my Birdsong Tree. 60cm x 60cm.
