A great image .To me the striking aspect of this is the strong verticals and the 45% angles of the branches. This pattern is disrupted by the odd quirky branch looking different from the others.I think this works well here. Title "Planted 10 Christmases ago".

this is another stunning painting Satu., lovely composition and very well painted, love it!

Stunning, Satu. A title suggestion: "The King of the Forest", as you called it yourself in your posting? It is very impressive and majestic. Very well done!

What a statement. Brilliant. What is your next challenge? "TREE" sweet and simple.

Whatever you call it it's a stunning rendition Satu

Love it, love it, love it!! What a super example of a painting done with a knife, this is the standard I would love to achieve. I had better start practising as I have a long way to go!! Title; you say it's been there years, how about ' Forever Evergreen' bit of a mouthful....maybe not.

I love this Satu, it has a sense of mystery how about 'Inner Strength'

Many, many thanks David, Petra, Mia, Sylvia, Michael, Fiona and Carole for your kind comments! David, I absolutely agree about the strange branch, I just didn't see at the end. It belonged to an other tree which is not there any more and I'm going to take it off. Thank you for spotting it! Carole, I like ' Inner Streght'!

Hi Satu.I probably did'nt explain it well. The the peculiarities of the branches is what makes the tree interesting .It helps you wander around the image. It is a bit like looking at a portrait and noticing everything is not quite symetrical.(which of course is the case)Still think it is a great picture.

Hi David. You did explain it well now when I have reread it for the seventh time! I haven't touched the branch yet so it can stay. Thanks David!

How about "The Sentinal"? !! You're so good at depicting ALL the beautiful things around you. I love the thick dark forest here, so different from the airy birches.

Thank you Avie so much for your kind comment. There are so many different things around us, thick forests, airy forests, fields, huge rocks and the sea. "The Sentinal" sounds good too.

I have been admiring this old fir tree for many years every time I walk to get the newspaper from the letterbox about half a mile from the summerhouse. It has been standing there like the king of the forest inviting me to paint it. Now I have done it and can sleep in peace. Any suggestios for the title? Acrylic on canvas with palette knife.
