What a lovely result Satu, really nice colours and a good composition. I do hope this lovely painting will persuade you to try some more flower paintings - I shall look forward to seeing them.

A starburst of colour Satu despite your limited palette. I would be interested to know what you think of using palette knives. I quite fancy having a go with them but I'm waiting for the right image to try them out on.

Your paintings are always so different Satu, this is very good and, like Fiona, I feel inspired to try this style of painting too!

Beautiful Satu. Such a balanced composition; I can feel the weight of the flowers bending over. Lovely texture and palette- encore une réussite! Bonnes vacances!

Thank you Julie, Fiona and Christine for your kind comments!! Fiona, I bought my first palette knife over thirty years ago and used it quite a lot. Somehow over the years I forgot it and used only brushes and old credit cards. A couple of months ago I bought a big knife and tried to use it on canvas but found it difficult. It's only since the MCF boards entered my life that I'm really enjoying palette knives. They give me a sense of freedom and using them I'm able to work fast. It's not an easy tool because a) you have to mix the colours very well beforehand b) you easily get an unwanted marble effect by trying to spread the colour like butter c) it demands a lot of paint. But do try it Fiona and have fun!

Thank you Avril so much! Mecri pour les souhaits et a bientot!

This is a beautiful still life painting Satu, I love the texture and colours

A great composition Satu with your beautiful palette of colours. I love the sparkling tumblers with the reflection of the flowers.

Lovely texture and great interaction of shapes. Super, Satu!

oooooooooo! I really like it! great!

Thank you very much Petra, Carole, Seok and Anastasia for your encouraging comments! Much appreciated.

As you perceptively point out, Satu, I am not overly keen on abstraction (how did you guess?); but I like this (and am not just saying that because you commented on my computer-doodle!). I love the palette knife - you DO use a lot of paint, but on the other hand don't waste much of it. I quite like the marbling effect myself, but I can see why you might not... provided you keep your colours clean, it's a liberation that everyone should try now and then.

Thank you Robert for liking my painting!

I haven't painted flowers for years so this felt quite strange. Of course they are not proper flowers, just an impression, but I enjoyed creating them. It's once more on MDF and I used one big palette knife and a fairly limited colour scheme.
