Devon coastline

Excellent picture Sara.

Lovely painting of the rugged north coast of Devon

I like this for many reasons, one of them being that this is how it is: you've not prettified a coastal scene and so you've conveyed its bleakness - well, relative bleakness - and the sense of strength and resilience. The very strong granulation works to your advantage (how did you DO that?). The only anomaly - and this is not a criticism at all - is that the more prominent part of the headland, where the mist intrudes, does look a lot like the head of a giant seal, in three-quarter view. I have managed to get faces in clouds and cliffs, without ever trying to or wanting them, so maybe I tend to notice them in others' work.

Thank you 😊 I did have mostly rainy holidays! It’s loosely based on a landmark which I think is called Elephants Head so a seal is probably not far off Robert 😆 as for the granulation, well, it’s my most recent fascination I don’t want to overdo it but I probably do because I love trying to get it to work
