A beautiful portrait Sarah. I am sure the owners will love it. Black dogs are a test to say the least, I have 3 and can't say I've done any of them justice!

Thank you Lesley and Margaret. Yes, Lesley, black is a difficult colour to achieve in fur.....it's so hard to stop it from looking flat. This has been a welcome change! :-)

One of a pair of commissions of a golden Cocker Spaniel. I've had a number of commissions for black dogs recently so it has been so lovely to indulge in this colour fur. I don't typically like to paint head on portraits, but I liked the lighting on the reference image.
