Yet another truely great painting which do you like best oil or pastels?

Hi Linda - I think oils have the edge, but I do enjoy both. Oils are so squishy and satisfying, and reinforce the painting experience. However, I also love the gentleness of pastels, which doesn't seem to work with oils. What do you do?

Hi i work in acrylics because i have limited space i would love to do pastels but too messy .people have said of my work that is looks as if it is pastel. I have done one water base oil painting which this site choose for novembers images ,i was so thrilled.

Thank you - he was a lovely gentle dog. I took about 300 photos after he got sick, and painted him after he went to Canine Heaven.
