These peaks feature in at least one novel .... Scott or Stevenson, or probably both; I shall now take pleasure in reading them again (try 'em: people think these Victorian authors are going to be dull and leaden, but they really weren't - and they told great stories). Back to the point - wonderful sense of space in this painting; hard to see anything ever changing this scene, and I hope nothing ever does.
