A lot to take in here, and a lot to like - even down to the foreground bank of brownish earth and grasses. I think what the pots have done is not only to brighten it up, but also to warm up what would otherwise have been a rather cool painting (of, I imagine, a pretty hot place). Some fiendishly difficult shapes here, too. Contrasts interestingly with Phil Kendall's Greek paintings, in a totally different style.

The Monastery of All Saints, Saint Savvas, Kalymnos. This painting was based on my own photograph taken a few years ago and I have brightened it up with additional plants in pots!
