This is great Rob, but I have found that more blending in always works. Get them fingers dirty in the away from eyes areas.

Great first go with charcoal Rob. It can be a nice medium to work with, even though it can be messy. I certainly see in the cheek bone structure and mouth, a hint of Chris’s guess of Jennifer Saunders.

Thank you so much Chris, Fiona and Chris. That sort of backfired didn’t it? It is supposed to be Gillian Anderson (X Files). Having looked at Jennifer Saunders photo I can see why you suggested her. Undaunted I will be continuing with charcoal. I used two small sticks of charcoal, paper stumps and a putty rubber. Didn’t cross my mind to use my fingers. Watch this space.

Quite why I have never picked up a piece of charcoal in my ten years of art I don’t know. So this is my first effort and I have really enjoyed doing it and will be thrilled if anyone sees who it is!
