i really like this rebecca, love how you have caught the veins in the petals and the vibrancy of the hibiscus. I could imagine this on glazed white ceramic tiles in a kitchen !! Nice and bright .

Yes, yes, yes....you've listened to Gudrun.......and you've cracked it Rebecca! Your best yet.

I am very pleased my advice worked. I agree with Fiona. Your best yet. Keep at it.

what I'm liking, Rebecca is you are starting to take control of your medium, making it do what you want rather than run riot. Wet in wet is great in the right place, but sometimes you have to wait, let it dry and then put in areas that clearly define what it is you are painting. Which I think you have done here. Patence goes a long way! Like watching you develop and progress.

Hi Helen :-) thanks so much for looking :-) i am really pleased that you like the Hibiscus :-) and that everyone seems too, and that the watercolour red worked thanks to Gudrun's advise :-) i used neat red for the veins, seemed to dry faster than brusho does actually...... :-p uh oh, am i going off brusho? :-p i will have a look at your paintings Helen, you seem to be a new person for me? :-)

im really pleased you think so Fiona :-) i was not sure when i uploaded it, but could not resist doing so :-p

thanks so much Gudrun :-) im pleased it worked too, :-) i was nervous when it came to wetting the area and dabbing it to lift off excess paint, but it works much better with normal watercolours than brusho, so, i think in future flower paintings, the main colour will be normal watercolours, thank you for taking the time to give me your advise :-) p.s. iv had trouble with the camellia i uploaded yesterday.......... i think it could be too advanced for me :-p

thank you Tony for looking and commenting, i am really pleased it worked too :-) i wish to learn different ways to paint, other than wet into wet, and find something to put into the middle of my paintings :-p but flowers are of interest to me at the moment, but choosing easier ones to attempt is tricky :-p

Hi Rebecca, I've just been looking at your two Hisbiscus paintings, they are really eye catching. I agree that the second version is the best and that taking Gudrun's advice has definitely paid off. It is lovely to see your technique improving every day and this is your best yet!

im really pleased you like it too Christine :-) i am quite pleased with it because everyone seems to like it :-) thanks for looking and commenting :-)

Rebecca well done, there is always someone who will give advice or tips and you have put them in action which you can see in your painting. Keep up the good work.

thanks so much Glennis :-) i wish i could paint flowers like you do :-)

Well done Rebecca, you have mastered the 'lifting' technique! Another cheerful image.

thanks Carole :-) i am hoping i will maintain getting better when i paint another one, having trouble with the Camellia at the moment :-) thanks for commenting and looking :-)

I love this one! So bright & lively. Beautiful!

This is all Caran D'Ache red watercolour, black brusho for the centre, green brusho for the stem (leaf green) and then white relief paste for the seeds :-) i used Gudrun's advise hence just basic watercolour red, then i could wet an area when dry, and use kitchen paper to dab off water, and lift the colour to create lighter areas :-) have i achieved this? :-p thanks for looking :-)
