I really like your bird paintings, in particular the trees - the texture and colours are excellent.

The trees and branches are coming along well - you've got a quirky feel to them. Birds are difficult critters to paint - I used to paint them, and wonder why I stopped.... Anyway: thin legs, don't forget, on the whole: they're all different, but on the whole they're longer than one thinks they are, and if you can get a continuous brush stroke from the legs to the feet you'll be making progress. I've lost an oil painting I did decades ago of a Marsh Harrier, a sort of hawk - I can see the blessed thing now; wish I knew what happened to it......

Very nicely done, Rebecca!

Hi Gudrun :-) thanks so much for your lovely kind comments, i appreciate them and i am really pleased you like the texture and colour of the trees :-)

Hi Robert :-) i am quirky :-p it would be great if you could find your bird paintings again and start to paint them again, iv seen your work and like it, your bird paintings i think would be fabulous :-) the legs are an issue because iv drawn some that look like they are on stilts :-p the pictures i am using as reference show the birds legs hidden by tree foliage, and i thought it good the foliage hides the hard part :-p but i have tried feet on some of the birds when the reference pictures show them, but for me, i think they come across as a little too rigid and stiff. i have not heard of a Marsh Harrier, it would be great if you could find your painting of it :-) thank you for looking and commenting :-)

Hi Seok :-) thanks so much :-) i'm really happy you think so :-)

I like your more subdued colour scheme in this painting Rebecca. Your trees are getting really good too.

Hi Denise :-) mmmmmm i was pleased with using the brusho is a more subdued manner gave this Kingfisher a different look to the other one i did. The picture of this one is more duller than the normal kingfisher i am used to seeing. im really happy you think my trees are getting better and better, thank you :-)

hi Rebecca I hope you are well dear, and I hope you will continue popping paintings on ..I looked for your blog but it has gone,, Rebecca , you must ignore anyone who has upset you , they make my blood boil .with their childish ways keep popping them on . you can e mail me for a chat any time ,[email protected] I cant tell you exactly what I think of the way they act ,they have no feeling at all they are \x\x\x\x\x\ houses

Hi Alan :-) thank you for such touching, kind words. It is very kind of you to care and think of me. I have deleted the blog for 2 reasons, one you know, and the second which is the biggest reason, - i can only upload one picture in the blog on this site, one picture per post, and it did not do my reviews/hints&tips much good as i need to be able to use many pictures to show examples of how i have created the paintings etc, what the products look like that i test etc. On some of my latest paintings i have uploaded you will see a new website link. The link is for my website that has a blog, created a couple of days ago, so still fiddling with it, it is a much better site for me to use for blogs and gives me alot more features with it. there is not ability to post comments from viewers on the site though as, i have disabled that feature. Please feel free to have a look at it, and if you wish comment to me here or on one of my future paintings :-) because i do not have time i am afraid to email people, because once i have commented here, uploaded paintings here, and then tweaked the new website, i am then painting :-p but i am very grateful for your kindness and for thinking about a stranger :-) i will keep this post with your email ( i would prefer to re-read for prosperity) if you do not mind, or, i can delete it, if you wish for protection? :-)

rebeccalouisesaunders.weebly.com This my attempt at the Female Blue Banded Kingfisher, my first attempt :-) it has not come out as bad as i thought it might, advise is welcome on how to improve it, if you wish to give it. I used Brusho turquoise, leaf green, dark green, gamboge, prussian blue, orange, W/N opaque white watercolour, and pebeo chinese ink. The paper is 180gsm clairfontaine drawing paper.
