Lovely blending Rebecca. Not seen this birdie before.

Also I like your squiggly trees!

Hi Carole, thanks for commenting :-) i have not seen this bird before either and was fascinated that it existed, so had to capture it, im really happy you like the blending and the squiggly tree :-p

Blue Chaffinch is new to me also. Maybe he is a foreigner. But he is a very happy bird. the trees are great.

Hi Sylvia :-) hope you are having lots of fun painting :-) i think he could be a foreigner, the reference pic is from arkive.org i love seeing all the different species of birds because their colours are so beautiful :-) i am very happy you think he looks a happy bird :-) and you like the trees :-) thank you Sylvia :-)

Love that little worm sneaking up behind the chaffinch! And like Carole, I like the squigly trees too!

This is my second attempt at capturing the Blue Chaffinch, hopefully it is not so vulchur like in size :-) The paper is A5 Bockingford CP white 535gsm (St Cuthberts Mill) I used Pebeo chinese ink with calligraphy dip pen to outline and add detail. The watercolours are Brusho :-p colbolt blue, prussian blue, leaf green, dark green, sea green, gamboge yellow, brown mixed with leaf green for the branches, then i used W/N opaque white watercolour for the chest and underneath of the bird while the blue was still wet to give a blended effect :-) hope it is better? :-)
