Your bird paintings are really delightful Rebecca, and this one in particular is lovely. I love the strong bright blue of his feathers, and the branch and leaves of the tree are soft and impressionistic.

Hi Julie :-) thats so lovely of you, thank you :-) im pleased you think my bird paintings delightful, it is a lovely compliment :-) i thought immpressionist for the foliage would be better and not take over from the Kingfisher :-) thanks so much for commenting :-)

hi love your gallery of birds..........the background is really striking....lovely vibrant colours

Rebecca this is really lovely! I like the way that you have filled the whole paper with the foliage and the fish is a lovely touch. Well done!

Hi Ruthy :-) thanks for looking at my paintings and commenting, i appreciate it :-) you kind comments have made me smile, i am very happy you like the background and think the colours striking :-)

im so pleased you think so Carole :-) i was concerned the shade of blues could be wrong........ i thank you for your reassurance :-)

Most certainly a Kingfisher and the best of your birds so far Rebecca. Beautiful bright feathers and I think what sets it apart from your other birds is the background. Lovely criss cross of twigs and leaves. Lovely!

that's really awesome of you Fiona :-) thanks so much :-) i appreciate your kind comments :-)

Yes, I agree with Fiona. Your best one to date . I especially like how the Kingfisher looks as if he is going to eat the little fish in one gulp. Looking forward to your next painting :)

that's just what he is planning on doing Sarah :-) one big gulp, and off he will fly for another one :-) thanks so much for your lovely comments they are very appreciated and brighten my day :-) im pleased you like the kingfisher i am very surprised he has been accepted so well i was concerned he may be wrong :-p

Ah, that's one bird we have even out here in Singapore! Love it - he looks pleased as punch with his catch!

Hi Seok, wow you live in Singapore that must be wonderful :-) Kingfishers galore :-) thanks so much for your kind comments :-)

I've just had a look at your bird gallery and chose this as my favourite to thank you very much for the tip you gave me on oil pastels. Just the sort of tip I was hoping to get when I posted it so thanks again and happy painting.

Oh you are very welcome Val :-) I could have given others and gone on and on, but i did not wish to bore you :-) i hope it is of some help to you :-) thank you for looking and commenting on my painting :-)

it is time for a little something the tummy of the Kingfisher says, so off to the pond flys kingfisher to fish, arriving back on the branch to sit to eat :-) i used a mix of things to create this, and this is my very very very very first ever kingfisher i have tried to capture :-) i used brusho watercolours :-p of leaf green, brown, gamboge yellow, orange, and turquoise. Then Derwent inktense black, pebeo chinese ink, Derwent Aquatone Spectrum Orange, and the white is WN opaque white. The paper is Bockingford 425gsm rough white A5 i found this paper really helpful and probably would have needed to use masking tape because i do not think it would have buckled at all, but the masking tape does give a nice border :-) i hope you all like it :-)
