Rachel Holmes

Biography

I’m an Anaesthetic trainee from North Yorkshire. I studied art to A2 level and have tried to keep it up during my medical studies and now further training as a doctor. I love colour and light. I mainly enjoy drawing and painting landscapes, still life and animals and work mainly in pastels, acrylics and printwork. I‘m no Da Vinci, but medical students have found my slightly more simple and vibrantly coloured anatomical drawings helpful in teaching sessions! Art remains very important to me, as a way to de-stress from long shifts in the hospital, and to help me learn and keep up to date with my medical knowledge. I’d like to work on my portraiture, inspired by the fantastic ‘portraits for NHS heroes’ project that has come out of lockdown. Let me know what you think of my artwork, and thanks for all of your kind comments!
