The plain-backed thrush (Zoothera mollissima) is a species of bird in the Turdidae family. It ranges across the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent, primarily the Himalayas, stretching into adjoining parts of Southeast Asia. It is found in Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland. 25–27 cm; 80–112 g. Nominate race is plain warm olive-brown above from crown to tail, with whitish eyering, buffy face marked dark below eye. Song, from hidden position on side branch of tall tree, usually a short complex set of whistle. Feeds Insects, snails, leeches; also berries, seeds. Forages on ground in shade. Skulking.
