I'd love to watch you paint - it would be an education. This is a very beautiful and lively painting, from the glint in the bird's eye, to that splashy green and yellow background which so well indicates foliage, to the tree stump which you've painted so convincingly. A great little bird.

The streak-throated swallow or the Indian cliff swallow (Petrochelidon fluvicola) is a species of swallow found as Native (breeder, year-round resident or winter visitor) in South Asia in the countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan. It occurs as a Vagrant in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and the Middle-east. Summer visitor to NE Afghanistan and NW Himalayas. Resident in C & E Pakistan (mainly R Indus Plain) and N & C India (E to W Assam, S to S Karnataka). 11–12 cm; 8–12 g. Has forehead, crown and nape dull chestnut with faint dark streaks, back glossy deep blue with few narrow whitish streaks, rump pale brown. Song is a twittering; also a sharp “trr trr”. Diet includes flies (Diptera). Forages in flocks; joins other hirundines. F
