The marsh babbler (Pellorneum palustre) is a member of the Pellorneidae family. The marsh babbler is endemic to the Brahmaputra floodplain, its associated tributaries and adjacent hill ranges in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya inIndia and eastern Bangladesh. 15 cm. long Smallish round-tailed babbler, dark brown above and whitish below, with rufous-buff flanks and heavy dark breast streaks. Crown, upperparts, upperwing and tail are brown. Highly vocal. Song an electric crackling followed by rapid downscale whinnying, No information on diet; presumably small invertebrates and some vegetable matter. Very skulking; population probably declining rapidly in response to widespread loss of habitat.
