The red-faced liocichla (Liocichla phoenicea) is a species of bird in theLeiothrichidae family. Other common names:Red-faced Liocichla, Crimson-winged Laughingthrush. The scarlet-faced liocichla was formerly considered a subspecies. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. 21–23 cm; 42–53 g. Fairly small laughingthrush-like babbler, mostly plain brown but with crimson face and throat sides, bold black lateral crownstripe . Has loud, beautiful, clear, cheerful song of repeated phrases of 5–8 notes . Insects, berries and seeds. Usually found singly, in pairs or in small groups of 4–5 individuals, depending on season .
