Igor Akinfeev was the hero as Russia reached the World Cup quarter-finals in dramatic fashion with a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Spain. Sergei Ignashevich [38year 352 days] is the oldest player to score a World cup own goal. Russia - who have reached the quarter-finals for the first time since the break-up of the Soviet Union. Croatia beat Denmark 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in their World Cup last 16 tie. Ivan Rakitic was the matchwinner as Croatia beat Denmark 3-2 on penalties to book a World Cup quarter-final showdown with Russia. This match was only the second in World Cup history to see both teams score inside four minutes, after Argentina v Nigeria in June 2014.
