The black-throated sunbird (Aethopyga saturata) is a species of bird in the Nectariniidae family. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Male 14–15 cm, 5·5–6·5g; female 10 cm, 5·5 g. Male with elongated central tail feathers. Male nominate race has crown and nape metallic violet-purple,. Song a twittering containing series of sharp, high-pitched “swi”, “tis” and “tsi” notes. Nectar, including that from Aeschynanthus, Rhododendron and Lantana, and perhaps pollen.
