Beautiful. Great detail but with no loss of spontaneity and energy. How have you achieved the texture in the lower sky?

Rebecca: my outline pencil drawing for the painting indicated where no paint would be applied. I never use masking fluid or any other artifice as I am a purist as far as watercolour is concerned. By the way, I love your chairs. Sometimes I really want to paint like you. Your paintings are pure and honest and from your heart.

Philip: Thanks! The gradation was achieved with very small brushstrokes using a thin transparent mix of French Ultramarine. By overlaying the same thin mix of paint you will find the colour will darken in tone as well as forming 'texture'. You will need to practise as it is not an easy method to use...
