I admire your work ,you are expert at your craft , I enjoyed looking ,thanks

That's very kind Alan, thank you. Will post the printed stages of this later ;)

Really good to see the drawing, and then this stage; looking forward to seeing the print - I wish I had the time, money and space to try linocuts again, but I'd labour long and hard to get anywhere near this standard.

Hi Robert, thanks for your comments, as ever. Yes, time, money and space are certainly an issue. I have a full time job and normally do my fine art stuff between the hours of 9pm and 1am! But where there's a will... And actually, the tools and material are pretty cheap, an A4 piece of lino is around a fiver and a cutter and blades around the same, so if you do it without having to buy a press, it's not an expensive art. (Many people hand-press their prints but I have recently invested paintings sales money back into my first small, roller press). Oh, and do look out very soon today for the print I made of this last night (or was it this morning?) Cheers! ;)

I finished the mackerel linocut last night. The lettering was rather tricksy to carve - lots of tight curves at a small size. Note that I've cut away around the putline of the fish. The lino beyond this will be cut away completely with a Stanley (craft) knife to avoid any unwanted areas picking up ink later. Then it will be mounted onto card or wood for stability and ease of registration. © Peter Gander
