Misty Wistman’s Wood

On a purely technical note, if you squeeze as much paint out of your brushes, with a thick kitchen towel, before taking to water AND SOAP, you should end up with clean brushes and avoid solvents as well. On the rest - a) great atmospheric painting, a touch redolent of the Hound of the Baskervilles, and b) the colour range, depth and subtlety of 'regular' oils are altogether more extensive that the water miscibles, in my opinion.

Thanks for your tips and kind comments Robert. I’ve already submitted an order to Jacksons for oil based replacements!

Oil on canvas. 50cm x 40cm. Another fab session with Colin Pethick online recently. Wistman's Wood is an ancient Oak woodland in the middle of Dartmoor. I used Cobra water based oils which I found to be better than the Artisan range, but I may well switch to oil based oils though, as I'm still using solvents to get my brushes clean. Water just doesn't get the oil out thoroughly.
