Madonna on the metro by Lynda Dearden
On a weekend in Paris I went to the galleries and soaked up the sights and saw some wonderful paintings. Then on my way back to the hotel on the metro a young woman sat directly in front of me and went to sleep. There was something about her face that reminded me of the many Madonna painting I had seen in Florence. It occured to me that she would have been an excellent model for a Madonna and child painting, instead I took a photo (without wakiing her) and decided to paint her just as she was, Madonna on the metro.
