I love the detail in this. I too prefer detailed paintings although I'm trying to loosen up as a different style as well. But I haven't yet painted anything as detailed as your trees. do you mind sharing how you achieved this effect. I have some tutorials which show the use pf watercolour over coloured pencil, Is that the effect?

Beautifully detailed work Paul, wonderful.

The trees are built up in layers (4 or 5 ) beginning with the lightest. Sometimes using a tree brush a la Terry Harrison. But then putting darks carefully shaped. To finish I use a stiff mix of lemon yellow or white gouache to add a little zing.
