I have a number of paintings created around this particular view. For this one the owner asked me to try to paint what might be seen if a large window was inserted in the blank wall above the fireplace, so that perhaps the picture could suffice? Hence the window frame hanging in mid-air (to paint the wall around it would have constrained the feeling of space)! Acrylic on board © 1997
