Is it pastel work Urban? looks very much like it could be, love the bright colours in it, love to gateway and the tree and the water bedise the gate as well

It,s a very nice painting Urban, but I think the black lines on the church are too strong. It,s in the middle distance so should be less defined than the bush which is nearer and painted with less contrast than the church.

It is good to see that you have made use of my photo of the church. I feel that in your painting that the church is too near the edge of the picture and that the clouds appear to be a little too yellow' Distant trees are well rendered as also the tree on the right.

Agree with Roger in general, and Angela in particular when she says the church is a little too clearly defined: although we all know how hard it is to get that sort of thing right; maybe if the church had been further into the picture, and more obviously the focal point, you wouldn't have felt quite so strong a need to add those darks in order to make it prominent. But it's always easy to comment on somebody else's painting, when one can't quite work out what's gone wrong (or right) with one's own.

thank you all for your suggestions it is well taken and it is good to know what i can work on for my future paintings the painting was my first in trying an impasto oil glazing effecT thanks for ALL your PAINT ON CRITIQUES THANK YOU MR.
