Julia Sorrell, who is writing for the November issue of The Artist, producing an oil painting of the Scots Pines at East Wretham Nature Reserve, July 2011. The Scots pines are a characteristic feature of the Brecks of Norfolk and Suffolk, having been introduced in the early 19th Century as wind breaks. East Wretham heath which is owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust has many fine mature Scots pines as well as these twisted remains of fallen trees bleached white in the sun.
