Michael Trask says: 'Yes, they are meant to be sheep! I painted the sky then sketched farm buildings before covering them with a varied sienna wash. Next the green pasture before adding deep shadow on buildings and grassy slopes and painting dark stone wall on left. Painted trees behind and to left of barn wet-in-wet merging them into dark shadow on bank. Darkened shadow in ruts and lastly painted those pesky sheep! Fun to do and a good exercise in laying down deep shadows to create a feeling of light'
