Nena Parkes sent in this version of Paul's exercise: 1) Applied texture to foreground using gesso and plumbers hemp. Left to dry. 2) Using 1" flat brush and palette knife, blocked in sky and land with prussian blue and white for sky, cadmium orange and yellow ochre for land with a touch of cadmium red light on foreground. Left to dry. 3) Washed in tones with prussian blue, raw umber and yellow ochre mixing acrylic with flo enhancer and matt glaze. Left to dry. 4) Touched in horizon detail with palette knife. Lightly dry brushed yellow ochre + lemon yellow picking up texture on foreground. Materials used - acrylics - Liquitex and System 3. Flo enhancer, matt glaze, plumbers hemp.
