My grandmother always referred to her cardigan as her "wooly" - and my grandfather's name was Wallace, hence Wally .... So "Have you seen/could you fetch my wooly, Wally?" was subject to endless variation. I now have a vision of her with a sheep of her own, trotting obediently to heel..... Much admire (to get back to your painting!) the way you've conveyed a flock of sheep by picking out the individuals and allowing the mass to speak for itself.
