Michael Hutchinson

Biography

I was a Chartered Engineer by profession, but have always since childhood been interested in drawing and painting. I am self taught and developed my style by studying masters of representational painting such as Terence Cuneo and David Sheppard. A large proportion of my career was spent in the Aircraft Industry which probably accounts for aviation subjects being so prevalent in my portfolio. My other main subject is steam railways which were commonplace during my formative years. I paint mainly in oils as I feel this conveys the heavy solidarity of my subjects to their best advantage. For many years I have been an associate member of the prestigeous Guiild of Aviation Artists and regularly exhibit in their Aviation Paintings of the Year exhibitions
