Uncle George outside Coopers by Mike Finney

Really like this; good sky and nice treatment of the snow on the roof. I find lettering on buildings really hard. I'm wondering about shadows but maybe it was so dull there weren't any. Love the way Uncle George is peering into the picture. It pulls me in with him. I assume these are all of yoru local area. Did you do them for a specific reason? I decided to do my village as so many old buildings are being pulled down or converted.

The gloomy, desolate atmosphere is really well done. The man on the right is very like my grandad was, so feels abit uncanny. Feels like you've got the chroma spot on too.

A good addition to your exquisite urban gallery...It is spot on. How would one get shaddows in a snow storm? It would be beyond artistic licence.

Thanks for all your comments - very much appreciated. There is a story behind this series of paintings of the town I grew up in. Each year in September the local history groups holds an exhibition. It seemed a good idea to produce a series of paintings depicting the town as I remember it while growing up. This series of 10 paintings will be on display at this years exhibition. It has been an interesting experience and a good opportunity to use painting as a medium for being reflective. Many memories came back to me during the actual painting and the paintings are populated by local 'characters' of the day. It will be interesting to see what the local reaction is to the collection when they go on display.
