Nice painting Mike, prefer your Blakeney scene. For me, the problem with this painting is the small bush in the foreground, my eyes keep going to it. may have been better to have left it out. Like to see some of your othe work.

Lovely winter scene, you have caught the icy atmosphere very well. I had'nt noticed the bush until Peter mentioned it, I think he's right but it's not a big point.

Like Stephen i hadn't noticed the bush at first, but I do think it would be better out of the way, as it were. Otherwise a great painting, chilly chilly ohhhhh!

The virtue of the bush is that it helps define the shape of the tree in front of it - so I'm undecided (on your behalf!). I have a bit of a prejudice against collage ... it usually seems glaringly obvious to me, but (at this resolution at least) that's not the case here.

Thanks for posting Mike have not seen your work before. Yes the bush bothers me my eye jumped straight to it. What I really do like is the warm brickwork of the boathouse. It offers a lovely contrast to the very icy scene.

The bush tells me that it is a real scene as opposed to a contrived one, so don't worry about it. I t helps give the sense of capturing a real moment in time.

I'm wondering if it's got something to do with the photo. No one has mentioned it in the gallery. I'm pleased it's become a talking point on here
