Many thanks for both your comments. Jeannette: I have a particular predilection for painting water and when I discovered these gravel pits flooded last winter it was a dream come true! Judith: Ryemeads is part of the huge complex of pits in the Lea valley park in Hertfordshire. Use the term 'park' loosely as the whole complex is a lifetimes work.
