Completely Absorbed

I like the feel of this and it captures his concentration very well, and it is a real book!

I think this is a really good oil painting Mark. I especially like the book and shoes where the contrasting highlights are as contrasts create focal points. I would put a little blob of white/yellow on the rim of the hat just above the eye so that this contrast draws you up to the mans face? A smashing painting (so just ignore my suggestions lol).

What a beautiful and diverse gallery you have Mark, I've just spent an enjoyable wee while going round it. My eye was caught by this one, I love your "free" brush stokes which give it life. I attempt oils now and then but never seem to be able to achieve this feeling of "life" probably because I'm too tight in my paintings, just not loose enough.
