You have the right idea of a solid detailed foreground and muted colors to suggest distance. For some reason I am waiting for something to stir from that large expanse of water. This is only a humble suggestion- you might try composing your painting around a centre of interest,. Let the rest of the colors, shapes and lines talk quietly around the centre of interest.
