Incredibly skilled work with a fantastic result Margot.

Really interesting and very well done

It's quite surprising that silverpoint materials are still available, given the small number of people who practise it these days; you so rarely see it. This drawing is one very good reason to see much more of it, it's a technique to be encouraged - the materials needed are few, the results, as in this case, well worth the effort.

I'd never heard of it but it has certainly worked for you.

Thank you Carole for your comment.

Thank you Heather for comment.

Thank you Robert Jones,Napa for your very special interest, it is the most beautiful and delicate medium to work with. There are very few suppliers today. Many thanks.

Thank you Peter for your interest in Silverpoint. It has been around I think since the Renaissance period.

Head and shoulders of a lady. This Silverpoint drawing is a delicate, intimate artwork, best seen close-up. The silverpoint is a small piece of pure silver wire, of varying thicknesses. The medium requires a delicate detailed application. The oxidised silver marks have an iridescent sheen that mellows with time. A drawing will change within months of being executed – the grey lines and marks become warm-toned and patinated.
