I like the way you have used the bright pink colour in the background to read as light shining through, and it is most effective where you have painted it into the poppy petals too. Great colour choices. I really like your flower paintings - for me, they are really joyful.

Thanks Julie,I do find flowers quite joyful to paint, they are very emotive of long gone summers.

I love the colours in this painting. A very attractive picture.

Sorry Margo - that should read 'very deserving'.

Thank you so much, for such lovely comments.

Mecanopsis are beautiful poppies and you have captured their colour beautifully in this painting Margo! My Dad used to grow them from seed and travelled all the way to the Isle of Skye to see them growing in the mild climate there! Lovely painting.

Thank you Graham,I have never been able to grow them,I live in Gloucestershire so maybe its the Lime soil they dislike.I saw some beautiful ones in a garden in Scotland, covered in raindrops after a storm this was my inspiration.

Maybe the soil type Margo? I'll ask my Mum. I think they originate from the Himalayas (i've no idea about their soil either!!) Anyway, the colour and light in your painting is spot on!
