Margaret, the face is just great. Love the colour love the highlights. she is kind of beautiful (is it you!) Love it, Jeannette x

Brilliant! Love the colours you have used. Bright colours always seem to lift my spirit a little! I've not yet tried adding water to my pastels you've given me food for thought. The only thing I would say is maybe a little more definintion in the hair, but then again as I tend to overwork some of mine, maybe not. Any way well done, Val

Thank you both for your nice comments. Jeannette, I wish!! I think you are right Val. If you look close there is a bluebird on her hair. I think I should have ignored my strange mind and concentrated on making her hair look better!!!

Fabulos! Love the palette, the light coming from the left, the expression on her face, the whole feeling of the painting. I only cannot see the bluebird. Great work!

Hi Margaret - yes, thankyou for telling me you have a new painting up and good to see you exploring one of the new techniques we spoke of. You will find that you can actually almost, mould the pastel with water and a wash brush as you paint which may help you when painting directional strokes for hair and water etc. esp. if adding different colours/tones as you go? Then simply picking out and enhancing these shapes with second hints or layers of pastels. E.g. you could use the brush/pastel and water to paint the hair from the start - not just a background wash. All sorts of fun effects you can explore now? :-) Like Nora, sorry I cannot see the bluebird - must be like one of those puzzle paintings where once you look a certain way its easy!? :-)

Hello again Margaret! I've just had a look at your work, and love the way you experiment. I've tried using pastels and get myself in such a mess I've given up, but I might play around now I've seen yours. Love the features in your blue face - and I can just see the bluebird!!!

Yay!! You can see it Margaret! Its a bit like 'Where's Wally?' Anyone remember those books? Thanks everyone for your comments. Will try what you say Peter. Thanks.

Margaret, I can see your bluebird. Have just tried pastel myself - been very traditional and copied a Degas!! Just posted and a watercolour Best wishes Jeannette x

Ha ! :-) I think you have started off a new craze? LOL - maybe hide a small something in each work? Only joking - like looseness of your latest pastel sketch. Are you gong to do us one of your local wonderful landscapes soon, also?

amazing

Thanks Margaret! Very humbled by your comment on "Fiddler".. I'm loving this blue theme you've got going on here.. there is great tonality in it and yet it effortlessly conveys its image credibly..

Love the mystical element and the strength in the womans face.

She is 'The Blue Bird' am I right? very beautiful! Annie

Paper covered with pastel and then water. Then soft pastels. The light wasn't too good yesterday so colours not exactly right. Would love to know what you all think?
