Gentle sensitive painting Mandy... No rules to say you cannot post as many as you wish at the same time, If you want to quickly fill a gallery what else do you do ?

Very good Portrait, I like the colours you have chosn.

Lovely work and very realistic skin tones well worthy of your award.

what a very gentle and lovely expression you have captured here. i am not surprised you won the prize for it. good for you

oh my god i am so sorry i didnt realise that i couldnt put up 4 pics on one day.aargh i apologise sincerely :(

You can post 4 in one day, but it does annoy some people because work gets shunted off the front page. You can see their point, but your work is so good I'm sure they'll let you off. Lovely portrait of this old gentleman, striking even though there are few strong contrasts. The way you've drawn the spectacles is very accomplished. I have great trouble with pastels, and so rarely use them (and so am not going to get very much better!) so am envious.

should i delete some now? how does this all work it's not clearly worded anywhere unless i didnt read properly...i obviously missed something. and wow to having a relative working with chimps hands on.

You didnt miss anything Mandy. Some people seem to think it is ok to instruct others on how they should behave. There are no rules except perhaps those of common sense and courtesy. you have your portfolio loaded now so we can all enjoy them. Nice to have them on board.

A firm point by angela angela, firmly made! As a much more recent recruit to the forum, I measured my words but agree with her that there is nothing in the rules to stop you posting as many images as you like at one go; it's just that if you do, we might miss the occasional single work which gets pushed off the page (but are still available if you look). Again agree, no need at all to delete anything.

I thought I read somewhere only six pics in all allowed - so rules are for breaking! I love the subtle treatment of your flesh tones and the strong contrast with the background bottom left. The tilt of thehead is as if the sitter is asking you to repeat something he hasn't quite heard! An excellent portrait.

excellent picture mandy

THANKS SO MUCH FOR LOOKING AND TAKING THE TIME TO COMMENT

this painting won me the title artist of the year in 2007 at the inkspot gallery swindon. it is painted in pastels mainly. i took a batch of photos of ' the elderly ' in a cafe in bath and painted them individually. they all liked their paintings all but one.too realistic evidently.
