There you go - we get used to your village and building scenes and you go and surprise us with a complete change of style. However, I can see your signature purple in the foreground! Not sure what a birker is, but I presume it is a man made pile of rocks. This painting has a gentle, mid-tone feel to it - great recession and a desolate feel to it.

Just beautiful it takes me back the in-laws are from the Lake District...love the sheep

Thanks for comments - I have corrected the grammer- Fox Bield is a natural rock outcrop to the south east of Boot in Eskdale above Birker Tarn- a lonely place. I have three sketches of the bield, one looking north west to the Scafell range , the second with the Ulpha Fells to the east and this one looking south. The sheep I lift from dried wash using a thin steel erasing shield with wet cotton wool overlapping the circle shape.

I love your work....I stayed in a holiday cottage on Birker fell one autumn, it was the best holiday I've ever had...wonderful scenery and your work has inspired me to get my finger out and recapture the place myself.....thanks.
