Day 15 - Causewayside, Edinburgh

Day 15 - Causewayside, Edinburgh

I hate drawing in public so I admire those who can. A very lively and interesting sketch Margaret and I recognise all the Edinburgh chimney pots :)

Thanks Val :) Yes, I prefer to be where there aren't too many people - this was busier than I expected and I met folk I knew! There were a serious amount of chimney pots here - I hadn't realised how complicated a scene it was before I started.

You're doing a great job, Margaret. One day I'll be out and about hopefully doing the same.

I sketch in the field or in the garden, next time I get on the bus I'll sketched people and I will be seating at the back. You have done well, the chimney pots and the buildings are fine, Margaret. :)

I like the loose, sketchy approach here Margaret, suits the subject, also then merely hinted at buildings on their right. Do you have an Urban Sketchig group in Edinborough, I have been on one or two outings with the Manchester group.

Lively and effective Margaret.

Thank you Carol - hope you manage to get out soon :) Thank you Annick :) Thank you Stephen :) There is an Urban Sketching group in Edinburgh - I know somebody who is a member. However, I've looked online and (probably not surprising for a city with an art college) the standard looks offputtingly high - the membership apparently includes professional artists. Although I have done odd bits of urban sketching since I was in my early twenties, I prefer landscape/seascape and birds etc - probably because I'm pretty bad with straight lines and perspective!

Further to my previous comment - thanks Stephen for suggesting urban sketcher group - a good idea :)

Bold and full of movement, a very lively piece, Margaret.

I took my sketch pad out for a walk today. This was drawn standing on the (fortunately wide!) pavement at the Sciences library, looking down Causewayside. Artist pen on A6 Zeta pad.
