Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. You have followed my instruction quit well Kate. Blue greens in the distance, strong tone and colours in the foreground. The leaves on your trees are in clumps. Open them up so they are not on the ends of your branches. This would improve your tree work. Richer greens in the foreground wood also help. Sap Green and Lemon Yellow would be the mix. Show me another attempt after you have seen my version in next months issue. I look forward to that Kate.

Thank you Colin and thanks for your comments. I will have another go when I get the latest issue of Leisure Painter.

Kate Bull sent in her version of the May painting project saying: 'I found this was quite a complicated photo, and have tried to follow Colin Steed's instructions. The colours I used were Lemon Yellow, Sap Green, French Ultra Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Viridian Hue, Brown Madder and a small amount of Raw Umber.'
