Like the brighter colours in this woodland scene Roger, love your tree details as well and the misty background

Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. It's good to see you have used my article's tips and added your own touches. The figure and foreground puddles are a good addition and work well. The subtle change of tone on tree trunks along with the soft background give depth the scene. The foreground tree looks a little flat. More variety of tone on the leaf work may have helped. Light leaves at the back would throw the dark leaves forward creating a round look to the tree. Some very light yellow greens in the foreground grass would give the scene added sunlight. Having said that Roger you have produced lovely painting.

Roger Blackwell sent in his version of this month's project saying: 'I used acrylic on Daler-Rowney primed paper for my picture (12" x 8") and decided to make the background bright and diffused with the added human interest of a figure. I reduced the amount of bracken and bushes to give a more "open" look and added a few puddles on the woodland track. I used the largest tree as my point of interest and the tree on the left a slightly paler shade, leaning them inwards to frame the man with his dog. Using Lemon Yellow and Naples Yellow in my palette was an attempt to give it a brighter look than the photograph.'
