Hi Christine You are right it is pale, but this could be how you see your subject, there are no wrongs or rights in painting if you get the tones correct and the under drawing balanced! However, if it bothers you, try looking at the photo more closely to see the lightest and darkest tones, you could try using a piece of clear coloured plastic in red or green, placed over the photo, this can sometimes help seeing the tones more clearly. I talk in more detail about this in the 2nd part of this project in April issue. But your painting is nicely drawn, the eyes etc being in the "right" places! and you know where to draw the fur detail. And I like that you have used blue on the bakcground to make Max stand out. Well done! Anna Pateman

My attempt at the March exercise, set by Anna Pateman, of the Siberian Husky. It seems a bit paler than the original pastel pencil drawing, but I hope it conveys the spirit of what I was trying to achieve. By Christine Goss.
