Beautiful landscape, Roger. Love the warm colours in the sky, the "contre jour". The whole painting is very atmospheric. Well done!

Painting Project Artist- Colin Steed's comments. Well done Roger! you have handled this snow scene as I recommended. Good colour in the sky and warm tints in the snow. A little more warmth in the foreground trees would make them look nearer. More Burnt Sienna in the mix would have helped that. Love the smoking chimney.

Really lovely watercolour painting, the sky has a warm glow feeling, and the shadowing is excellent. Really lovely painting :-)

Roger Blackwell sent in his painting from this month's painting project saying: 'This painting is A4 size on Bockingford paper. I attempted to keep as much warmth in the scene as possible and used cadmium yellow in the sky. Dry brush technique used in the foreground to give texture to the snow and pale shadows for "contre jour" effect. Too much tree foliage in the original photos so did a lot of pruning!'
