Colin Steed - Artist & Tutor. This painting really catches the eye Jeanette. The sky is a very dark blue hue. This has two good effects. One, because it is so dark the house and the snow appear very white and light and two you have counterbalanced that cold sky with warm browns for the trees and foreground figure. The trees are well draw and painted but to give added depth to this area the one at the back could have been a little less rich in colour and somewhat lighter and the trunk could have been wider. Well done for adding the figures. If you never paint figure into your landscapes you never learn to paint them. I can vouch for that.
